Board seats

Where Scott serves, or has served, as a director.

Champions United FC

Board member

  • Strategic planning and real estate planning for the campuses.
  • Runs the Kings Cup, the organization's largest tournament, for hundreds of children.

Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee

  • Advised on bid strategy, venue planning and financial feasibility.
  • Coordinated among civic, university and professional sports stakeholders.

Committee work as the executive

Not board seats. This is the committee work Scott did as the CFO or COO reporting to a board, which is where he learned what directors need and when.

Finance, investment and audit

As CFO and COO

Scott has chaired or staffed the committees that boards rely on most, prepared the board books and run the meetings, as the executive responsible for the numbers behind them.

  • Ran the Investment and Audit Committees of a $160M statewide education foundation, overseeing its $150M corpus with a leading institutional investment manager.
  • Oversaw the Audit, Investment, Construction and HR committees of an independent school, prepared its board materials and co-directed its board meetings.
  • Ran the Finance and Audit Committees at BSR, attended every board meeting, and served as executive lead for enterprise risk, insurance and legal across multinational entities.
  • Ran the board book and the board meetings of the Blue Shield of California Foundation and oversaw its Finance and Audit Committees.
  • Provides governance support across the multiple entities of a family office, coordinating outside counsel, insurance and reporting.

What he brings

The combination is the point.

Finance, and the rest

An unusual set of rooms to have sat in

Most finance-qualified directors have spent their careers in finance. Scott has the audit and finance committee readiness, GAAP and management reporting, internal controls, fund accounting and investment oversight, and has also run a professional sports franchise, founded and led an international nonprofit across a dozen countries, served as CFO of a global sustainability network with offices from Paris to Beijing, overseen $5B in public fund flows for an education foundation, and developed coastal California real estate through entitlement.

  • A CEO partner who has sat in the operating seat at $35M, $45M and $160M organizations.
  • Sustainability and ESG governance from the inside: five years as CFO and chief administrative officer of BSR, the global network through which 300+ companies, most of them Fortune 500, work on corporate sustainability.
  • Sports, nonprofit and for-profit governance; real estate, insurance and international experience.
